List of patent owners
The Sisvel Cellular IoT programme offers a licence to the all the LTE-M and NB-IoT standard essential patents (SEPs) held by:
* Excluding patents held by Via Licensing Alliance LLC and its subsidiaries.
Patents
Sisvel has the right to grant non-exclusive licences to all LTE-M and NB-IoT standard essential patents held by the participating patent owners. Standard essential patents are also commonly known as “SEPs”.
SEPs included in Sisvel Cellular IoT undergo an essentiality evaluation process by independent patent evaluators. The Patent List includes the SEPs that have been evaluated so far, and will be supplemented and updated from time to time as new evaluations are concluded. This list is not intended to be exhaustive or restrictive. As the Sisvel Cellular IoT license is a portfolio license (not a listed patent license), a licensee will receive a world-wide license to all relevant LTE-M and NB-IoT SEPs held by the participating patent owners for the duration of the license regardless of if they are listed in this list or not. This also means that as more patents are added during the license, then they will automatically be added to the license at no extra cost.

What if I have an indemnification from my supplier?
You should be very cautious about relying on indemnification agreements in the context of cellular IoT standard essential patents. If you have agreements of this nature in place, there are three things you need to know:
-
- Your supplier may not have secured the necessary licences
Sisvel is aware of companies in the market using indemnification language that we believe creates a false impression as to the licensed status of their products.

We have seen many indemnifications in the market with terms that could significantly compromise the customer’s level of protection.

Even the strongest indemnity is not a licence. Obtaining licences yourself provides the greatest level of business certainty.
